JP Engelbrecht

Shareholder & CEO

JP has a 25+ year career in acquiring, owning, and operating businesses spanning a multitude of industries. His extensive experience started with SCI’s legacy assets where he never shied away from a challenge, whether it was climbing 1,000-foot radio towers in the mountains of Tennessee or pulling the graveyard shift on classic rock radio. At Xavier University, his passion for business and investing continued when he acquired his first radio station by borrowing $750k at the age of 19.

Throughout his career, JP has experience with all manner of transactions – including venture, leveraged buyouts, bolt-on acquisitions, carve-outs, and distressed situations. He has served in multiple interim executive roles for operating companies under the SCI umbrella. He is also credited with building a first-class, independent board of directors that won small business board of the year in 2018 with Directors & Boards Magazine. With a first-generation mentality and constant strive for improvement, JP has successfully led SCI into a new and diversified era of ownership. Today as the sole shareholder and CEO, he is responsible for instilling stewardship across the business and supporting the management teams of SCI’s current investments. JP resides in his hometown of Evansville, IN with his wife Allison and their four children.

Logan P. Bitter

VP & Managing Director

Logan is the Vice President and Managing Director of SCI, where he is responsible for leading and managing the family office while continuing to develop the team’s capabilities to further expand and support our investments. He started with SCI in 2019 as the Director of Finance – driving financial planning and analysis, strategic relationships, investment sourcing, deal diligence and execution, and management support. Logan has been instrumental in our transition from the legacy environment into a family office and holding company with diversified investments.

Logan previously worked for a boutique restructuring firm, providing turnaround management services to distressed companies and their creditors – primarily in the energy sector. Logan started his career with PwC in Houston, TX, where he supported Fortune 500 executives with strategic consulting initiatives across the globe. His significant experience in corporate finance with C-suite leadership teams provides him with the foundation required for executive-level communication, strategic planning, deal diligence and execution, and management support.

Logan earned a BS in Accounting and MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Logan resides in Evansville, IN with his wife Jessie and their children, Isabelle and Bo.

Randy A. Champion

CFO & Treasurer

Randy is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for SCI, where he is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, cash management, tax, insurance, risk, and compliance. In addition to his role as CFO, Randy supports due diligence on pending acquisitions and post-close integration. He has held various management and executive officer roles with SCI since 2006. Randy has been pivotal in the transition from SCI’s legacy businesses into a family office with diverse holdings. He also supported the business in its transition from 2nd to 3rd generation.

With over 45 years of serving in key financial roles across multiple industries, Randy brings a breadth of experience in solving technical issues and advising executive leadership. Given his exposure to many different industries and operating environments, Randy plays a critical role in evaluating target companies and their operating capabilities. Prior to SCI, Randy served in a variety of accounting, financial, and management capacities with Browning Ferris Industries, Emerson Electric, Eastman Kodak, and privately held businesses in manufacturing and retail. Away from SCI, Randy has donated his time and efforts to many organizations in the community, including:

Randy earned his BS in Accounting from University of Southern Indiana. He and his wife have three grown children. They reside in Evansville, IN.

Board of Directors

Peter C. Ariens

Peter is the President and CEO of NuMA Group, Inc, a holding company with investments in durable metal products for automotive, industrial, defense, and mining industries, as well as engineering services and recreational products. Previously, he led Stens Corporation, a global distributor of critical components for powered equipment. Peter is actively involved in various for-profit and non-profit boards. He holds a BA in Business Administration and Marketing from St. Mary’s University of Winona, Minnesota, and an MBA from Benedictine University. Peter and his family live in Carmel, IN.

Jerome A. Benkert

Jerry served as EVP and Chief Financial Officer for Vectren Corporation for 14 years until his retirement in 2015. Vectren, headquartered in Evansville, IN, was acquired by CenterPoint Energy, Inc. in 2019. With nearly 30 years at Vectren and its predecessors, Jerry oversaw Treasury, risk management, investor relations, and more. He currently serves on the board of Deaconess Health System and has previously served on the boards of regional banks. Jerry is also involved with Buffalo Trace Council, Boy Scouts of America. He holds a BS in Accounting from Indiana University and began his career as a CPA. Jerry resides in Evansville with his wife Cindy and extended family.

Paul D. Stone

Paul brings over 30 years of private equity investing experience, specializing in acquiring, operating, growing, and selling companies across diverse industries. He founded Stone Management Company in 2000 to pursue investment opportunities, and recently founded and sold ZippiVet Management LLC, a veterinary hospital operator. Notable successes include the acquisition and sale of DMX Music, a $100MM international business music provider. Paul has also held key roles such as EVP at Activant Solutions, a $400MM technology firm, and CFO at Capstar Broadcasting Corporation, a $4.5B radio station owner. He resides in Dallas, TX, with his wife and four children.

Ronald Turpin

Ron, SVP at Ambassador Enterprises (AE), a Fort Wayne-based private equity firm, focuses on partnering with leaders for lasting impact. Leading AE's Civic Engagement Investment, he ensures community involvement and good governance. Formerly CFO, Ron is deeply engaged in community service, serving on numerous local, state, and national boards. He currently serves on the East Allen County Schools board and has received Indiana's Circle of Corydon and Distinguished Hoosier awards. A graduate of Indiana State University and Indiana University (JD), Ron is a licensed attorney and CPA. He and his wife, blessed with two children, call Fort Wayne home.

William G. Vieth

Bill, an experienced entrepreneur, has thrived in finance and plastics industries for over 30 years. He founded Ameri-Lease, Inc. in 1991, leasing equipment across the Midwest, and co-founded Omni Plastics, LLC, serving customers globally as President, achieving $100MM+ revenue before its sale to Celanese Corporation in 2018. Bill, a Memorial High School alum, coaches boys' soccer there. He holds a finance degree from St. Louis University and serves on the board of Walgrove Corp in Evansville. Bill and his wife, Sarah, reside in Evansville with their four children and two grandchildren.

Adam Unfried

With over 30 years in plastic packaging, Adam's career includes 23 years at Berry Global, where he held executive roles, including President, overseeing a $1.1 billion business with top-tier margins. He contributed to Berry Global's successful IPO in 2012. Adam's expertise in new business development, operations, and M&A led to his role as Advisor and Operating Partner for Private Equity firms, notably with Graham Partners, facilitating acquisitions and strategic leadership. He serves on the Advisory Board Council for Easypak, LLC, a Graham Partners portfolio company. Adam, residing in Evansville with his wife, Jan, and daughter, Elle, continues to make impactful contributions to the industry.
